Summary / Abstract:

ENMichał Kazimierz Ogiński is mainly known as the confederate of Bar and a military commander in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania as well as a culture maecenas, a composer and a noted writer. In his socially concerned poetry, Ogiński emphasized the exact writing action. In his prolegomena, the poet is as essential as a peasant who grows crops. He showed that writing is as hard and important work as manual labour. Therefore, everyone should do their work according to their own predisposition. Such comparison of the poet - mentor and a peasant is a key issue of his intellectual activity. Ogiński treated this subject both in his artistic texts and political writings. Another problem presented in this article is Ogiński's consideration on a book - its shape and utility.
