Summary / Abstract:

ENThe article presents the analysis of Lithuanian minor individual correspondence and manuscript texts of the I7th-19th centuries present in the so called books of friendship (album amicorum) and ascribed to occasional creations, as well as manuscript micro-texts (book marginalia, proveniences, etc.) The focus of the article is on the imperative communication as well as the style and tools of its expression. The analysis is supported with the manuscripts stored in the Krakow Czartoryski and Kaunas District Public libraries and in a private collection. Minor correspondence, clearly disclosing the structure of a letter, illustrates one of the most characteristic features of this type of communication - the imperative. The impulse for the imperative action is expressed by direct and indirect forms of the imperative meaning with help of some conjunctive meanings. Manuscript micro-texts offer an abundance of variants of imperative expression - beginning with direct imperative up to its total absence in the informative reports. Manifestations of the imperative are also apparent in occasional creations ascribed to private environment, namely in the books of friendship ('album amicorum' in Latin, 'sztambuch' in Polish and German tradition). Stylistic accents of the imperative connect different spheres of marginalia writings regardless of the origin of their texts, their structure, and variants of purpose.
