ENAccording to the programmes of Lithuania schools it is planned to teach rhetoric and stylistics. Therefore it is necessary to explain the connection of these branches of science: relations of the subjects of research and teaching problems. Authors of the article conforming to the scientific works and to their own teaching experience draw some preliminary conclusions and formulate general didactic recommendations. In present school it is purposive to teach the foundations of functional stylistics and the widely-understanding synonymy, also the ways of speech expressiveness. The next important accent is done on the connection of functional stylistics with text linguistics and on orientation towards teaching of text stylistics. In this case when rhetoric is toght after stylistics pupils can pay more attention to the linguistic perfection and stylistic efficiency of text, not only to non-linguistic components of public-speaking. Oratorical style is a distinctive stylistic variation (typical distinguishing features are these: publicity, oral form, preliminary preparation, function of persuasion) which has closely connection with publicistic style.
