ENThe present article regards teasing rhymes as a specific form of children's songs. The focus of the article is on the persiflage of first names using the images of animals. The author makes an attempt to analyze the features of grotesque laugh (according to Mikhail Bakhtin) in Lithuanian teasing rhymes. The main images related to grotesque are as follows: the image of body consisting of two bodies (man-animal), destroyed body, feeding, killing, moving down, and others. Special attention is paid to the use of zoomorphic epithets. Having compared the modern persiflage of first names with the traditional ones, the author notes the continuity of the prevailing principles of word formation.
