ENLithuanian Symbolist poetry is closely related to romantic ideas and motifs, bird being one of them. Lithuanian Symbolists Balys Sruoga, Jurgis Baltrušaitis, and Vincas Mykolaitis-Putinas have depicted this motif in their poetry very often. The blue bird became the central figure of Lithuanian Symbolist poetry. It expresses the sacred space, the idea of freedom, immortality, and creation. The blue bird and the white swan play the role of the mediator between the world and Divinity as transformed into the poet's muse.
