Summary / Abstract:

ENThe concept of dictionary structure is usually defined as the order of, and relationships between, the components of the dictionary. However, the structure of the dictionary includes not only relations between dictionary parts, but also relations between information. The first conception of dictionary structure was established in French lexicography at the end of the 20th century. It consisted of two aspects – a microstructure (structure of the dictionary article) and a macrostructure (structure of the lemma list). Ever since several other conceptions of dictionary structure have been developed. In addition to the microstructure and the macrostructure other aspects have been included, e. g. megastructure, mediostructure, frame structure, distribution structure, cross-reference structure, access structure and addressing structure. In the dictionary analysis mostly three or four aspects are used. Analysis shows the importance of distinguishing structural aspects from functional aspects. Structural aspects are microstructure, macrostructure and frame structure – they deal with the formal relations between dictionary components. Functional aspects are distribution structure, cross-reference structure, access structure and addressing structure. They deal with relations between information. The choice of dictionary aspects should depend on the object of analysis.
