Summary / Abstract:

ENE. Barba – one of the most significant and influential contemporary theatre directors, researchers, teachers and practitioners, best known as the founder of the International School of Theatre Anthropology (ISTA) in 1979. Theatre for E. Barba is a kind of laboratory space, where actor is the central figure for his theatrical investigations. As a consequence to his practical researches and experiments, while collaborating with non–European theatre masters and trying to find new kind of theatrical expressions, idea of the Third theatre has been developed. It was very important as connecting theatre groups in all over the world, which do not belong nor to traditional neither to experimental theatre. These groups created autonomous meaning of the theatre without appealing it to surrounding culture. All in all, such kind of creation described the main aim of E. Barba’s Third theatre – not to copy or take over someone’s acting techniques, but to discover the distinctive theatrical ways of expression. E. Barba presented new conception of creative process as the organization of three dramaturgy levels – organic, narrative and spectator’s. This was some kind of new attitude to directoring process. The conception of dramaturgy here was not related with literature, but rather than that included all performance’s creation elements such as scenic actions, space, music, spectator’s reception and etc. and described creation principles of the Third theatre. The object of this article – the reflections of E. Barba’s Third theatre creation principles in B. Šarka’s theatre. The conception of creation process of E. Barba’s Third theatre in this paper revealed the creation principles, which could be used as a tool for Third theatre creation analysis.Taken into consideration, that B. Šarka is one of the most significant examples of marginal theatre creator’s in Lithuania, who creates his autonomous meaning of the theatre, but his creation still hasn’t been investigated in the context of Third theatre, it was decided to investigate the reflections of Third theatre creation principles in B. Šarka’s theatre. The investigation has shown that all the most significant with performance’s creation related Third’s theatre creation principles reflect in B. Šarka’s theatre.
