JAV lietuvių humoras XIX a. pabaigoje ir XX a. pradžioje

LTHumoras – natūraliai žmogų lydinti gyvenimo dalis, besireiškianti įvairiomis formomis nuo įvairių ritualų iki anekdotų. Iš juokų užuominų galima užčiuopti visuomenės problemas, dominuojančius interesus. JAV lietuvių bendruomenėje humoro daugiausia randama periodinėje spaudoje. XIX a. pabaigoje į JAV atvykę lietuviai ėmė gausiai leisti periodinius leidinius. Pirmuose laikraščiuose humoro apraiškų beveik nėra, tačiau 1886 m., pasirodžius Vienybei lietuvninkų, atsirado ir pirmoji nuolatinė humoro rubrika naujienų leidinyje. Po poros metų išėjo Saulė, kurioje juokų skelbta kur kas daugiau. Šių leidinių pavyzdžiu ir kituose savaitraščiuose atsirado humoro skiltys. Dar po kurio laiko pasirodė ir specializuotų satyrinių leidinių. Straipsnyje bandoma atskleisti priežastis, dėl kurių humoras atsirado periodikoje, taip pat siekiama apibūdinti vyravusias juokų rūšis, formas, temas, kitas ypatybes.

ENHumor is a natural aspect of human life, manifested in different ways from various rituals to anecdotes. Jokes are full of hints of what is really important to people; therefore, it is possible to see them as revealing larger social issues and a particular society’s dominant interests. In the Lithuanian community of the U.S., humor in the public sphere was most pronounced in the periodical press. At the end of the 19th century Lithuanians who arrived in the U.S. started to publish plenty of periodicals. In the first newspapers there are almost no traces of humor, but in 1886 with the appearance of Vienybė lietuvninkų there appeared the first permanent humor column in a newspaper; to be followed a few years later by Saulė, whose content was abundantly filled with jokes. The success of these publications led to the introduction of humorous sections in other weekly newspapers and specialized satirical publications. Th is article analyzes the reasons for the appearance of humor in the press as well as throws light on its dominant types, forms, topics, and other features.
