ENThe author of the article indicates that the monograph by Y. Tyshkevich is one of the ftrst patterns for outlook of the city in the 19th century. The description based on statistical and archival documents on ethnography, folklore, toponymy, and linguistics. The monograph "The Discription of the Borisov Povet" by Y. Tyshkevich was the basis for соmplех analysis the Barysau city, its history, development, the description of the style, traditions, occupations of the citizens. This approach requires an understanding of the relationship of the processes occurring in the city, society and culture.
