ENCentral bank of Lithuania is focused on stable external exchange rate of national currency. Stable exchange rate monetary policy has several advantages: allows to decrease high inflation, enforces reliability of national currency, puts limitations on expansive monetary policy, is easy understandable to population. Disadvantages of this policy are limitations of national monetary policy application, active speculative attacks against national currency. Countries in transition face a lot of mentioned advantages and disadvantages, while focusing on stable exchange rates of national currency.
