Summary / Abstract:

Nežiūrint to, daugelis nori būti geriausiais įvairiose veiklose, dėl to neišvengiamai turi tarpusavyje konkuruoti. ENThe growing competition between individuals in different life situations is becoming increasingly obvious. A lot of people want to be best achievers in different fields of life therefore they must compete between each other. Successful competition is the aim of a lot of people during daily activities. The way to solve this task is closely related with collaboration because competition alone cannot lead towards successful activity. Competition and collaboration are the two extreme social elements, acting together they have to be inevitably harmonised. The article raises scientific problem of the development of harmonization between skills of collaboration and competition during sports activities. The article aims to define the manifestation of skills of competition and collaboration in sports activities. The results of the analysed literature on this matter revealed that the skills of competition and collaboration are important for the adaptive and adequate behaviour and influence successful activities of the person and his positive socialisation. Athletes‘ sense of social belonging depends on the level of their goals and on concrete forms of interaction between competition and collaboration. Athletes are acting pursuing their personal and sports ambitions using the skills of cooperation and competition, combining them, harmonising them and achieving higher form of coopetion. By harmonising competition and collaboration it is possible to achieve better results. Social skills acquired in sports activities can be transferred to the other spheres of life and to boost the development of harmonious personality. After completion of research on manifestation of harmonisation of skills of competition and collaboration during classes of physical activities at schools it was established that girls are more bound to harmonise skills of competition and collaboration, but boys are more individualistic. The living place (city or regional centre) has no influence on tendency to harmonize skills of collaboration and competition. Young people in sport activities tend to be collaborative (interested in achieving common goals) and are less competitive (acting individually). The results of the research established that during sports activities the skills of competition and collaboration are harmonised, respondents likewise confirmed that in pursuing both their sporting and personal goals they are more bound to the coopetion.
