LTPalyginti neseniai aukštosiose mokyklose pradėtos naudoti virtualios mokymo(si) aplinkos (sutrumpintai VMA) užima vis svarbesnę vietą mokymo(si) procese. Kauno kolegijoje jau eilę metų yra naudojama VMA Moodle. Taigi siekiant tinkamiau panaudoti VMA siūlomas galimybes ir geriau atliepti studijuojančiųjų mokymosi poreikius, tampa vis aktualiau tirti, kaip VMA siūlomas galimybes vertina patys studentai. Straipsnyje siekiama atskleisti kaip KK KJRSC studentai vertina VMA MOODLE suteikiamas mokymosi galimybes, pateikiama nuotolinio mokymosi samprata, aptariamos VMA Moodle suteikiamos galimybės, atskleidžiama kaip Kauno Kolegijos Kėdainių Jonušo Radvilos studijų centro (toliau KK KJRSC) studentai vertina VMA MOODLE suteikiamas mokymosi galimybes ir analizuojami studentų įvardinti mokymosi VMA Moodle privalumai ir trūkumai. ENThe problem of the investigation. Kauno kolegija / University of Applied Sciences has been using the VLE Moodle for a number of years already. Thus, in order to make better use of the opportunities offered by the VLE and respond to students' learning needs, it becomes relevant to investigate how students themselves judge the possibilities offered by the VLE. The problem of the investigation is defined by the question how the students of Kedainiai Jonusas Radvila Study Centre of Kauno kolegija / University of Applied Sciences (hereinafter KJRSC) value the learning opportunities offered by the VLE Moodle. The subject of the investigation is the evaluation of the learning opportunities provided by the VLE Moodle from the point of view of students. The aim of the investigation is to reveal how the students of KJRSC value the learning opportunities offered by the VLE Moodle. The objectives of the investigation are to present the conception of distance learning; discuss the opportunities provided by the VLE Moodle; reveal students' evaluation of the learning opportunities offered by the VLE Moodle; and discuss advantages and disadvantages of learning in the VLE Moodle from the point of view of students. Methods of the research: study of scientific references; questionnaire survey to collect empirical data; statistical data analysis to process the data (using SPSS software package, averages have been calculated, chi-squared test has been applied, reliability of the scale has been checked by determining Cronbach's Alpha coeficient (Cronbach's Alpha = 0,776)); and content analysis (applied to process the data of open questions). The survey was conducted in the Internet environment in January, 2015. The respondents were 48 KJRSC students who studied 3-5 courses in the VLE MOODLE during a semester. The results and conclusions of the research: 1. Distance studies may be used to provide secondary or higher as well as informal, adult and continuous education. Such studies is a tool that can be successfully used to provide various types of education as well as qualification degrees. 2. The VLE Moodle involves the entire process of education: it provides the content of the course and includes cooperation by discussion (forums, chats, e-mail). It enables practical tasks to be performed; group work to be encouraged; the knowledge and abilities acquired to be computer tested; assessment to be provided automatically, etc. Moodle VLE allows for different learning scenarios and techniques. Similarly to the real learning environment, the VLE Moodle strives to help students learn, monitor their learning process, and improve its content. The VLE Moodle is described as a system of study materials, tasks, and communication as well as assessment devices, which allows flexible management of the educational process. 3. The results of the research revealed that: the students gave the highest score for the opportunity provided by the VLE Moodle to study at convenient time and place; the students gave the lowest score for the opportunity to communicate with the lecturer (to leave a message, receive an answer, see comments on the tasks fulfilled), which means that the students consider live contact with the lecturer to be quite important; the main advantages of the VLE Moodle are convenience of time and place, accessibility and clarity of the information, and pilot tests while learning; the main disadvantages of the VLE Moodle are systemic disorders, shortage of direct contact "student - teacher", lack of study materials and the fact that not all of the courses are available in the VLE Moodle.
