Praeities nelaisvėje : apie XX a. Lietuvos dailės istorijos interpretacijas

LTXX a. Lietuvos dailės paveldas apskritai nėra pamirštas, juo nuolat domimasi. Pažinimo procesas yra pakankamai intensyvus ir gyvas. Gausėja duomenų bazė, klostosi nauji probleminiai požiūriai, tačiau chronologiškai nuosekliai einant nuo amžiaus pradžios jo vidurio link sustojama ties 1940-aisiais. Šie metai kol kas lieka neperžengta riba. Panašiai nutrūksta ir priešingas vektorius, vedantis atgal nuo amžiaus pabaigos. Paprastai sustojama pasiekus 1980-uosius. Pirmoji sovietų okupacija, karas, pokaris ir brandžiojo socializmo epocha yra tarsi iškritę iš mūsų aktualiosios dailės raidos. Parodos ir faktografinių duomenų bazę apie XX a. Lietuvos dailę sustiprinęs Soroso šiuolaikinio meno centro Lietuvoje leidinys „100 šiuolaikinių Lietuvos dailininkų“ ir net pasirodęs dėmesys sovietmečio marginalijoms krypsta viena – modernizmo plėtotės – studijų linkme. Kokioms meninėms normoms oponavo „tyliojo modernizmo“ kūrėjai, kokiomis formomis reiškėsi oficialusis dailės gyvenimas, neaiškinama ir nesidomima. Dar daugiau – kai kurie sovietmečio faktai bei kūriniai sąmoningai nutylimi ar net kupiūruojami iš šiuolaikinių publikacijų. Visuomenė, vertindama XX a. vidurio ir antrosios pusės dailės paveldą, linkusi saugoti ir ginti romantinį tautinės kultūros kūrėjo mitą, tos epochos kūrybos idealus ir standartus. Atviro žvilgsnio į praeitį trūksta, nes bijoma pajudinti susiklėsčiusias klišes. Nenorima pastebėti, jog tokiose artimose dailėtyrai humanistikos srityse, kaip istorija arba literatūrologija, jau seniai analizuojamas karo ir sovietmečio laikotarpis.Reikšminiai žodžiai: Lietuvos dailės istorija; Istorijos interpretacija.

ENXX c. Lithuanian art heritage is not entirely forgotten, it draws continuous interest. Research process is rather intensive and dynamic. The database is growing, new critical perspectives emerge, yet attempts to move chronologically – from the beginning of the century until its middle – get stuck around 1940-ies. These years have not been surmounted yet. Similarly, the vector heading in the opposite direction – from the end of the century - also stops abruptly. Usually, researchers stop by reaching 1980-ies. The first Soviet occupation, war, after-war period, and the period of mature socialism seem to have dropped out the evolution of our contemporary art. The database of exhibition and factographical data about XX c. Lithuanian art was strengthened with a contribution of the publication “100 contemporary Lithuanian artists” (100 šiuolaikinių Lietuvos dailininkų) published by Soros contemporary art center in Lithuania; even interest in marginalities of the Soviet period that did appear veers into one direction – research of the development of Modernism. The authors do not explain and do not concern themselves with what artistic norms did artists of “quiet modernism” oppose, what forms were employed for expression of official art life. More than that, some of the facts and art pieces from the Soviet period are purposefully being concealed or even edited out. In evaluating art heritage of the middle and the second half of XX c., the society is inclined to defend and protect romantic myth of national cultural producer, the ideals and standards of that period. One misses frank overview of the past, because researchers are afraid to ruffle prevalent stereotypes.
