ENSince not much interest is paid at the children tales in Lithuania, we have got no recommendations, based upon scientific investigations, helping to evaluate the fabulous world of the children texts. This article is aimed, basing upon the results of analysis, to provide principles to distinguish children tales from simple stories as well as to present unbiased information about the parallels between folklore and children tales. Investigation was performed in three 4th forms of Siauliai Jovaras secondary school in two steps, applying method of unfinished text. 75 respondents participated in the 1 st and 74 in the 2nd step. VVhile creating our own children tale evaluation system, we based upon the best practice of both Lithuanian and foreign folklorists. It is quite difficult to evaluate the fabulous world of children tales, because most oftenly this is just an elementary subject including the initial situation, hero's action and result. Tale functions are not developed, oftenly implied, heroes' aims are not always clear, etc. It is almost impossible to delimit a simple story and novel tale, because both texts describe reality of today. A lot of similarities between the folklore and children tales may be found: interrelations of the people, habits, traditions - a framework of the real world of tales; inner world of the creators is encoded in the tale subjects; some stylistic peculiarities of the tales created (passive or active hero, ending formula, surprise, fantastic images, hyperboles, repetitions...) remind the folk tales, the others (time, place, space of action), on the contrary, are defined.
