LTApžvalginiame straipsnyje aprašytas XIX amžiaus pabaigos ir XX amžiaus pradžios Lietuvos kultūrininko - teologo, filosofo, mokslininko - Aleksandro Dambrausko - Adomo Jakšto gyvenimas ir veikla: socialinės, filosofinės, idėjinės katalikiškos pasaulėžiūros formavimosi ištakos, filosofinės įžvalgos kultūros, mokslo ir religijos sankirtoje bei Rytų ir Vakarų kultūrų sintezės vizija, veikiant rusų teosofo Vladimiro Solovjovo, lenkų mesianisto Juzefo Marijos Henė-Vronskio ir tomizmo bei scholastikos nuostatoms, derinant religiją ir mokslą.

ENThe life scientific activites of prominent catholic ideologist of the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century Aleksandras Dambrauskas - Adomas Jakštas is dealt with in the paper. The ideological influence of the national liberation movement and social environment stimulating his public work trends are analyzed. A special attention is given to the influence of Russian theosophist Vladimir Solovjov and Polish messiahist Juseph Maria Hene Vronskij pholosophical insight into A. Jakstas who intendent to reconcile their philosophical views with the thomistic system. The efforts of a coordinator of Lithuanian natural science and religion to defend the belief against atheism and materialism world outlook are emphasized. An original foresight of A. Jakstas into the theoretical problems of the essence of culture through the conception of ”a small creator” are pointed out. The irrational standpoint of a theologist towards a person as a creative human being is estimated which contradicts the thomistic antropological intelllectuality saying that a man is first of all a clever and intellectual being. Lithuanian natural science and religion coordinator who believed that V. Solovjov and J. Hene-Vronskij ideas could be “catholicated” and thomism and scholastics could be “solovjovied” was an inconsequent and eclectic thinker. Nevertheless, A. Jakstas had an effect on the culture of his period and his works are of interest to our reserchers of Lithuanian mentality and cultural traditions.
