Enhanced user's interaction and communication in Lithuanian Distance education network through mobile technologies

ENMain factors affecting the competitive ability of each country in the age of knowledge economics are people and communicational infrastructure. The need of customers to be „connected“ anywhere and anytime grows very fast. Thus, fists steps are already made in applying mobile technologies in the sphere of eLearning. Mobile learning (mLearning) can be defined as the provision of education and training on such mobile devices as: personal digital assistants (PDAs), smartphones and mobile phones. Furthermore, these devices are considered as wearable technologies which companion each person anyplace and anytime. The article presents the attempt to create mLearning environment, which can be downloaded into mobile phones or iPod players and introduces its constituent parts. The differences between distance and mobile learning are revealed through comparative analysis. The effectiveness of mobile learning is illustrated by the analysis of case study results.
