ENThe positions of women in the musical culture of the last century were minor because of the occupation. Though the Soviets formally declared the equality of gender in fact they did all they could to suppress social and cultural movement of Lithuanian women that started during the independence decades. Conservative and retrogradic culture of the Soviet establishment did a lot of harm to women and their creative work. The balance of gender changed in this century after the re-establishment of Lithuania’s independence – argues the author of the article.
