ENA Lithuanian tradition of playing viola is presented by the author who discusses the works she herself has played with her colleagues, namely: sonata for viola and piano "Marble Tree", "Silver Bird", "Nine Springs", "Rex Re", etc. by O. Balakauskas. The author reminisces having played the pieces by O. Narbutaitė: "Eight Strings", "Hoquetus", "Mozartsommer 1991", "Winterserenade". The author describes the works for viola and other instruments created by B. Kutavičius, J. Andrejevas, P. Dikčius, G. Kuprevičius, M. Urbaitis and other Lithuanian composers, accentuating their appeal, artistic merits and challenges in their performance.
