ENA work on Antoni Tyzenhauz prepared by prof. Stanisław Kościalkowski for print in Vilnius in 1939, was released after his death, in 1970-1971 in London. The article describes the fate of the manuscript of the book, lost during the war, the efforts put into subsequently finding it, and the failed attempts to publish it in Poland and abroad - in Paris and the eventual release in London, by the Academic Community of the Stefan Batory University. An important role in salvaging and editing the text was played by a student of prof. Kościalkowski, Leonid Żytkowicz, who after the war, became a professor at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń.
