ENStanisław Kościałkowski was one of the most prominent members of the Society of Friends of Science in Vilnius (TPN). He was involved with it throughout for 33 years of its existence - since the inception in 1907, until liquidation in 1940. He perfonned various functions on the Management Board of the Society; additionally, at the first meeting, he was elected as secretary and chief archivist, and subsequently, vice president and president. As a man of science, he delivered lectures during general meetings, reminisced about the deceased, distinguished members of the Society, but, first and foremost, he took care of its collections. During World War I, when Russians were leaving and Germans coming in, and later in 1919, Vilnius was, for a short time, ruled by the Bolsheviks, and in 1920, when they came back - Stanislaw Kościalkowski was always present in the TPN building, taking care of the collection. The situation was repeated in 1939 after the Soviet invasion and later, when Vilnius was, for a few months, ruled by the Lithuanians, and in 1940, after the annexation of Lithuania by the Soviet Union. His continuous efforts, during the last year of TPN existence, to save the Society and the cultural goods gathered therein, are presented in the source document, included in the article. It is a specific epitaph for the Society of Friends of Science in Vilnius - the last statement of operations written by the last President - a great citizen of Vilnius - Stanisław Kościalkowski.
