Summary / Abstract:

LTKlaipėdos uostas – universalus, modernus, neužšąlantis uostas, tiesiogiai ar netiesiogiai įdarbinantis daugiau nei 180 tūkst. darbuotojų. Uosto plėtrą rodo vis didėjančios investicijos, net 2,5 karto per visą nepriklausomybės laikotarpį išaugusios krovos apimtys ir darbuotojų skaičius. Atsižvelgiant į augantį specialistų poreikį darbo rinkoje, atsiranda laisvų darbo vietų kvalifikuotiems darbuotojams iš užsienio. Straipsnio tikslas – atlikti darbo migrantų, dirbančių Klaipėdos uoste, poreikio analizę, remiantis didėjančių investicijų į uostą, krovos apimčių augimo ir kitais rodikliais. Straipsnyje nagrinėjamas 2010–2015 metų laikotarpis. [Iš leidinio]

ENLithuania has the only universal international sea port, which is located on the Eastern coast of the Baltic Sea, in the Northern part of the Coronial lagoon, Klaipėda Strait. According to Klaipėda Seaport information this port is a part of Lithuanian transport system, which is performing servicing of ships and other shippingrelated commercial and economic activities. Klaipėda port activities including indirectly associated with the port is creating up to 18 percent of total gross domestic product. Klaipėda port is a major international transport hub – it goes through the main shipping lines to Western Europe, Asia and the Americas. The expansion of the port is creating the demand of new job positions, resulting in an increasing variety of skilled workers. The same time Lithuanian labour market now is lacking of skilled workers – many of them left to work to other countries. Moreover, Klaipėda port needs of qualified workers is not carried out and has not been determined; also, the connection between the port of Klaipėda growth trends and growing labour migrants was not preciously evaluated. Also, it is noted that, according to the State Progress Strategy “Lithuania 2030” and the Klaipėda port activity plan for 2015 to 2018 (2015) the Klaipėda port by 2030 tended to grow further and is projected to be served not less than 15 percent of the Baltic Sea region cargo, which may require increase of skilled workers from abroad. The goal of the article – to perform labour migrants working in Klaipėda port and Klaipėda seaport economic development analysis. Methods: analysis of the Lithuanian legal; analysis of statistical data; analysis of Klaipėda port activity reports; other organizations, research and activity reports, and other material analysis; correlation analysis of statistical data.Accomplished correlation analysis established a strong positive relationship between the total cargo, Klaipėda Port Authority’s net profit, and issued work permits for the foreigners to work in Lithuania. Also, a positive relationship between the numbers of containers handled at the port of Klaipėda and the number of long-haul drivers was found. However, the correlation of investment and specialists from foreign growth was not found. Given the correlation between the variables obtained should be checked with statistical significance; also it is recommendable to check the correlational relation over a greater period of time. Also in terms of Klaipėda port economic development and the need for foreign workers, it is appropriate to check the correlation between other criteria of economic growth: total number of staff working in Klaipeda; part of GDP; companies whose activities are related to the port of Klaipėda and others.
