LTVienas žymiausių Varšuvos fotografų Konradas Brandelis (1838-1920) Vilniuje lankėsi apie 1875 m. Po šios kelionės atsirado šio gražaus miesto nuotraukos. Dešimt šio autoriaus Vilniaus vaizdų šiuo metu saugoma Adomo Mickevičiaus literatūros muziejuje Varšuvoje. Juose užfiksuotos dvi svarbiausios istorinės vietos mieste, būtent kaimynystėje esančios Šv. Onos ir Bernardinų bažnyčios bei Aušros Vartai, be to, bendros panoramos nuo Vilniaus kalvų. Mažai iki šiol žinomų Brandelio Vilniaus fotografijų pristatymas tapo gera proga iškelti klausimus, kada tiksliai fotografas atvyko į Vilnių, koks buvo kelionės tikslas, viešnagės organizavimo būdas, kuri atsižvelgiant j politinę situaciją turėjo būti deramai parengta. Pavyzdžiui, kaip gautas leidimas fotografuoti plenere. ENKonrad Brandel (1838-1920), one of the most outstanding photographers ofWarsaw, visited Vilnius around 1875. The visit resulted in photographs of this beautiful city. Ten images by this author are now held at the Adam Mickiewizc Museum of Literature in Warsaw. They show two of the most important historical locations in the city, namely, the neighbouring churches of St Anne and the Bernardines, and the Gates of Dawn, in addition to the general views from the hills of Vilnius. The presentation of little known Vilnius photographs by Brandel served as a good opportunity to raise the questions as to when exactly the photographer came to Vilnius, what the purpose of the visit was, how it was organised, since, given the political situation, it must have been arranged properly. For instance, he had permission to take photographs at a plein air. Many circumstances surrounding the making of the unknown Vilnius photographs by Brandel could be discovered if photography historians from Vilnius joined the research.
