ENThe author emphasizes the significance of literary almanac "Gabija" to Lithuanian literature. The "Gabija' published in Krakow, 1907, by Juozapas Albinas Herbačiauskas, marks the outburst of modem artistic Lithuanian consciousness. The literary chronicle "Gabija" published in Brooklyn (the USA), 1954, by Jonas Aistis and Stepas Zobarskas, affirms the continuation of fight for Lithuanian culture. The first "Gabija" was matured by the euphoria of Lithuanian press liberation. The second stated the significance of the Lithuanian speech liberation in front of a menace to survival of the nation.
