ENThe article examines the questions of voit authorities’ organization in the towns of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania during the reign of Sigismund the Old and his wife Bona Sforza. Privilege based on the Magdeburg law and the post of voit that contained the Metric books of the Great Duchy of Lithuania presented the main functions and powers of the latter in the administrative, fiscal and judicial spheres. The article provides information on the requirements presented to the candidates for the post of voit according to the Magdeburg law in the presentation of B. Groitsky. The terms, the bases for obtaining the relevant certificates and material support of voits in the cities that had the privileges to the Magdeburg law, and settlements that didn’t receive it are also analyzed in the article.
