ENIn the 14th century in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania began to be carried out the fi rst coin issue, moreover they produce in the forms of the central government’s coinage on behalf of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania, the regional government of coinage in different lands on behalf of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania, as well as regional coinage in different lands of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania on behalf of the local princes. Early coinage in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania continues to be a promising area of research, including due to the extremely weak consecrated it in written sources and constant discoveries of new coin types. This article traces the relationship of regional coinage in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania with the question of political autonomy of its lands in 14th–15th centuries. This new suffi cient statement of the problem can help in the development view of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania as a state with a multi-level system of administrative-territorial units.
