ENThe journal called Pasaulio lietuvis has been published for more than 50 years. Its predecessor by its own account was a newspaper of the same name published in Kaunas from 1937 to 1940 and likewise intended for a readership of Lithuanians living abroad. But other encyclopedic sources indicate that the foundations for Pasaulio lietuvis were laid by a publication from 1956 to 1963 that called itself the Newsletter of the Lithuanian-American Community Executive Committee and was edited by Stasys Barzdukas, Vytautas Kamantas, and Edvardas Karnėnas. The history of this newsletter displays the path traversed from a narrowly focused news bulletin to a future journal filled with comprehensive and varied information.
