ENThe article presents the activities of the Lithuanian Writers’ Association (LWA) from 1970 to 1980, when its Board was chaired for three terms by the poet and Franciscan priest, Father Leonardas Andriekus (1914–2003). We survey the history of the LWA, analyze the trends of its strategic activities, outline its publishing issues, and discuss the significance of finances for its activities. The LWA joined together Lithuanian writers in the free-world diaspora, organized literary awards, and concerned itself with publishing the works of deceased writers as well as with fostering relations between writers living in the USA and those who lived in other countries. In this article we try to reveal LWA activities through the personality of Father Andriekus. The main sources of this study are the Maironis Lithuanian Literature Museum Archives and the Lithuanian OFM Archives. [From the publication]
