ENFrom 3rd of July to 1st of December 2013 exhibition of Adelė Peldavičiūtė- Montvydienė (1907–1967) “Returned works of Ada” was held at the Lithuanian Art Museum’s (LAM) branch the Museum of the Radvilas Palace. This diaspora artist, who emigrated from Lithuania during the World War II and temporarily lived in Austria before finally settling in the USA, is not very well known in Lithuania as yet. Therefore, this exhibition was the first comprehensive attempt to present her artworks to Lithuanian public. Artworks from the collections of the LAM, M. K. Čiurlionis National Museum of Art, and private collectors were presented in the exhibition. Moreover, paintings donated to the LAM by Lithuanian Foundation (USA) become significant addition to the exhibition (in 2013 Foundation handed over 26 artworks to the Museum: 25 oil paintings and one charcoal-drawn portrait). The collection of artist’s photographs, kindly lent by the Lithuanian Archives of Literature and Art, was also displayed. Article gives an overview of the artist’s early works created in Lithuania before the World War II, after she finished her studies in Florence Academy of Art and Kaunas Art School. Presented as well are creative and cultural activities of Adelė Peldavičiūtė-Montvydienė in Austria, where she and her family lived in displaced persons camp during 1944–1949. Finally, text deals with the artist’s creative life in the United States, where she lived since 1949. [From the publication]
