ENThe focus is on two books: the first is ethnologist Rita Balkutė’s book The Power to Enchant (Harmful Magic in Recordings From 1982–2012), (Galia užburti (kenkimo magija 1982–2012 metų įrašuose), Vilnius: Ritos ratas, 2013, p. 703), which contains people’s stories about wizards, magic, people with the evil eye, easy and strong hands, evil voice, and even witches. All of these texts (882 in total) were collected during 140 field expeditions that took place over three decades. This was an attempt to glimpse the mysterious world of magic through the eyes of those who practised it. The other publication is the hour and a half long DVD Lithuanian Belief and Knowledge on Health, the author of which was also R. Balkutė and which was directed by Juozas Javaitis (Lietuvių tikėjimai ir žinios apie sveikatą, Vilnius: LLKC, 2012), which helps introduce various Lithuanian folk medicine texts and contexts – knowledge on health, gathering of medicinal herbs, healing through incantations, magic or healing faith, trust in the power of magical saints, sacred places and objects.
