ENStress is a global problem associated with serious health and economic consequences and, together with other risk factors, forms the health risk. Aim of the study: to evaluate the influence of workrelated stress on health risk in seafarers and onshore staff. Methodology. Survey about work- related risk factors in 600 employees, including 220 seafarers and 380 onshore staff was made in 2012. Statistical analysis was made using the SPSS21 software package, logistic regression and factorial analysis. Results. Seafarers more often than onshore staff are faced with these stress risk factors: noise, vibration, electromagnetic field, heat, lack of sleep, night job, ship movement, climate change, the hard physical work, the responsibility for the safety and people, multinational, small size crews, high work requirements, and social isolation from family, long journeys, hazardous materials (p<0.001), economic insecurity (p=0.001), dust (p=0.013), longer working hours (p=0.023). Onshore workers are more often exposed to conflicts (p=0.004). Differences of latent common factors means showed that means of responsibility and social environmental factors in seafarers were less than the onshore staff, and mean of unfavourable factor was higher than in onshore workers. The calculated integral stress index of seafarers was statistically significantly higher than the onshore staff. All integral latent stress factors accounted amount of 8.24 in health risk for seafarers and the amount of 10.59 in health resources; health risk influenced by stress exceeded the resources in onshore workers (9.234 and 8.3621). Statistically significant correlation between deterioration of general health and morbidity risk and latent stress risk factors have not been identified. Conclusion. The health risk formed by work-related stress is lower in seafarers than in other onshore staff, and health resources are bigger.Statistically significant correlation of work-related stress factors and deterioration in overall health status and morbidity risk was not identified.
