LTSvarbiausia problema Lietuvos Didžiosios Kunigaikštystės (LDK) - Baltarusijos santykio svarstymuose yra LDK vaidmuo baltarusių tautos formavimesi. Lenkijos istoriografijoje trūksta aiškaus atsakymo klausimui: kokią vietą LDK užima Baltarusijos istorijoje bei kokį vaidmenį suvaidino baltarusiai šioje valstybėje. Dauguma lenkų istorikų LDK įvardija kaip lietuvių-gudų valstybę ir nepastebi joje baltarusių, nors vartoja terminus „Baltarusija”, „baltarusių žemės”; naudoja sąvoką „lietuviai” ir nevartoja sąvokos „baltarusiai”, nes lenkų istorikai netiki baltarusių kaip tautos egzistavimu LDK. ENThe main subject in the relations between the Great Duchy of Lithuania and Belarus deals with the problem of the role of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in the shaping of Belorussian nation. Polish historiography lacks in the precise description of the place of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in the history of Belarus and the role of the Belarussians in this state. Most Polish historians refer to the Grand Duchy of Lithuania as a Lithuanian-Ruthenian state and they do not notice the Belarussians in it despite using the terms “Belarus”, “Belarussian territories”; they use the term: “Lithuanians” but not “Belarussians” because Polish historians do not believe in the existence of Belarussians as a nation in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.
