ENObjectives – to assess public health graduates’ situation in labour market according to finished universities. Methods – a retrospective, descriptive study was performed and covered 487 students, who started public health bachelor studies at Vilnius University (hereinafter – VU), Lithuanian University of Health Sciences (hereinafter – LUHS) and Klaipėda University (hereinafter – KU) in 1999-2000 and 2004-2005 and 208 persons with already completed various education level entered LUHS postgraduates studies with mentioned students’ group. The data were collected from archives of universities. The data about employment of the graduates were collected from The State Social Insurance Fund Board under the Ministry of Social Security and Labour, about unemployment – from Lithuanian Labour Exchange. The distribution of graduates in the labour market was estimated on the 1st of March of 2013. The data were analysed by using descriptive statistics method, i.e. case rates (percentage), the statistical coherence was evaluated by Chi-square tests, statistical reliability p<0.05. Results. The labour market situation has revealed that 80.3 % of graduates worked 1.6 % were unemployed, and approx. 17.9 % of graduates were not found. Distribution according to labor market by institutions had shown that only one – third (30.9 %) of graduates work in the public health system. Most of the graduates worked in the areas which need medical knowledge: one-fifth – in health care and pharmaceutical institutions (20.8 %), medical device companies (20.3 %), 10 % worked in institutions, not subordinate to the Ministry of Health Authority but carrying on public health functions, 5 % – in universities and colleges. More VU graduates (39.3 %) compared with LUHS (26.7 %, p<0.05) and the KU (29.2 %, p>0.05) were employed in the public health institutions. Most of KU graduates worked in health care facilities (p<0.001).Most LUHS graduates worked in the pharmaceutical and medical device companies (p<0.05). The vast majority of graduates’ work places were in three counties – Vilnius, Kaunas and Klaipėda. Conclusions. The results revealed a rise to predict the need of specialists, to review their studying programs according to labor market needs and changes, seek to attract young professionals to the regions of Lithuania.
