ENDuring the interbellum Women Civic Work Association was among the biggest and most influential sanation women organizations in Poland. During its heyday the Association had over 31 thousand members. The Association was established on 25th of March, 1928. It functioned continuously until the outbreak of World War Two and had a distinct idea-political character. It showed in the Association's efforts to make women more aware and independent in the sanation spirit. One of the main goals of the association was the creation of a woman citizen model, one who would be active and aware of her rights and duties, but also interested in national matters and participating in activities meant to strengthen the newly reborn country. Members of Women Civic Work Association played a big role in educating the female part of Vilnius society in the field of politics, civics, industry and education. [From the publication]
