ENThe article is an attempt to keep track of the determinants that have shaped the stereotype of a Pole in the Lithuanian eyes over centuries. The particular stereotypes were thus written into definite circumstances that accounted for these mental patterns. Simultaneously, the article may serve as a broader context for the opinions - mostly negative - that one can meet in Lithuania in relation to Poles. What is important, the most clear-cut elements of this stereotype were presentėd with regard to the inhabitants of Vilnius and Kaunas separately. [From the publication]
