ENSeveral reasons led us to create an underground political organization in 1978. One of the reasons was the understanding that the intelligentsia, coming to terms with the invaders’ policy and satisfied with very restricted intellectual activity opportunities weakens the nation’s spirit of resistance. We felt the need to arouse the hope of restoring Lithuania’s statehood and to spread awareness that only in independent Lithuania it is possible to create material and spiritual culture.
