ENThe article presents analysis on the developments and trends of Lithuanian trademark law during the most important historical periods of Lithuania. The analysis is based on the fact that Lithuanian trademark law system is unique possibly only in one sense - that it was undergoing through a constant and in sometimes radical change during the whole past century. Beginning from the first trademark regulations which were much in line with basic trademark protection principles, traditional trademark system collapsed after the occupation of Lithuania by Soviet Union and was newly re-established at the end of the century when Lithuania's independence was regained. Despite such change, legal trademark protection did exist as such, though in some short periods trademark protection was not complete or there were no trademark regulations at all. Naturally, in such a context national trademark law did not experience consistent and long term development.
