ENAn authentic secondary source summarising the 1863 revolt battles in historical Lithuania (in the so called Russian empire in the North Western region – in the provinces of Vilnius, Kaunas, Gardin, Minsk, Vitebsk, Mogilev) based on archival and published sources of Lithuania, Russia, Poland and Belarus, as well as special literature has been published. Dates of clashes and battles between the rebels and the Russian army, which took place in the territory of Lithuania of that time, their location, wherever possible – unit leaders of both warring sides, the number of people, the number of dead, wounded, soldiers captured in connection with the fighting, property losses of battles, in individual cases – the specificity of teams and battles, also specific sources of information about the skirmish or battle, are provided and systemised in the source table. The source is important material both in carrying out general revolt surveys in Lithuania and Belarus, and in setting the parameters of the revolt as war in different Lithuanian territories: describing the beginning and end of the revolt, locations of conflicts and battles, their chronology, number, specificity, territorial spread, unit number, commander personalities, deaths of the two warring sides related to battle, the wounded, prisoners of war, property losses while carrying out a comparison of the intensity of the 1863 revolt in Lithuania, in the kingdom of Poland and in Russia (on the right bank of Ukraine). The preparation principles of the source summarising the 1863-1864 rebel fights in historical Lithuania are discussed in the introduction. The reliability and evaluation of the sources and research of the revolt, sources and literature used, meanings of names, sources, and literature abbreviations are also indicated.
