Summary / Abstract:

ENHistorical Zvynyhorodschyna covered the area around the two rivers: Mountain and Rot Tikychiv. Almost to the end of the 14th century it was ruled by the Tatars. In 1393 as a result of hike led by Skyrhayla Zvynyhorodschyna joined the Lithuanian state. Zvenyhorodskyy district of this state was formed in the fil'd third of the 15th century as a result of military, administrative and economic measures initiated by Grand Duke Vitovt. Zvenyhorodskyy castle was one of the key points of the defense system of Lithuania, created by Vitovt. After his death Zvenyhorodskyy district was the subject of a struggle between Svydtygaylo and his opponents. Their winning contributed to a temporary transition Zvynyhorodü and his adherents to administrative subordination in Kyiv principality and the princes Olelkovych. Their dismissal of power in Kiev was practically coincided with the activation of Tatar attacks on Ukrainian lands of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. Trying to resist them was generally less successful. Zvenyhorodskyy castle was repeatedly destroyed by the Tatars (finally - in the early 1540-ies) and their attacks were gradually destroying the economic potential of the county contributed to its Depopulation. The local elders measures to strengthen casde defense capability, the organization of effective defense subregion desired feet was not given. The local gentry, tradesmen and farmers moved to nearby castles - Bratslav, Cherkasy - or have been destroyed or captured during the Tatar attacks. As a result, in the middle of the 16th century Zvenyhorodschyna was practically uninhabited territory, which acted as entrepreneurship mainly for Bratslav gentry and middle class. The sub-region has become one of the centers of these forms of economic activity, as apiculturing, hunting, fishing, which Qould develop under adverse conditions of Ukrainian border.
