ENThe Stefan Batory University in Wilno was one of the five state universities in the pre-war Poland. In terms of the number of students it was the smallest of the five, but it played an important role in the region and in the country. The article shows the statistical picture of the students of the University. Tables present data concerning the changes in their number in relation to other Polish universities, the structure of the students in terms of their legal status, gender, nationality, faculties, place of birth. All the data comprise the period of 1919-1939 and, if possible, take into account the division into the University’s faculties. The presented picture shows a university full of specific colour (students of various nationalities and religions from various parts of the country), where, however, the same faculties enjoyed the same degree of popularity as in other Polish academies.
