Summary / Abstract:

ENThe current article addresses some translation peculiarities of poetry by Czesław Miłosz on the basis of selected texts from the Lithuanian-Polish poetry collection “Poezje wybrane”/”Rinktiniai eilėraščiai”, which appeared in 1997. The author concluded that quality of the translation is generally good, as it transfers the atmosphere of the original version, preserves the rhythm and poetic expression. However, seemingly insignificant differences of lexical and semantic nature within the Lithuanian translation can lead to varied interpretation of the poems by changing/distorting intentions of the Author.
