ENBefore the World War II, 114 newspapers and journals in five languages, including 9 of them published in Lithuanian, have been published in the multinational Vilnius. The Sovietization of Lithuania after the War caused the situation in which the Communist party press was the only one to be published in the country. About 170.000 of Poles haven’t repatriated to Poland, and the government started publishing press for them. The press in the Vilnius Region was published in three languages: Lithuanian, Russian and Polish. The content of newspapers indicates that their task was to indoctrinate the population.
