Žemaičių vyskupų charakteristika (1417-1609 m.)

LTPateikiame 1417-1609 m. Žemaičių vyskupų katalogo analizę, kurią autorius tyrinėja kaip atskirą problemą. Domėtasi diecezijos valdymo chronologija, vyskupų tautybe ir socialine kilme, jų išsimokslinimu, amžiumi ir karjera, vyskupo kaip politiko asmenybe. Deja, ne visas problemas bus įmanoma išspręsti. Daugiausia dėl to, kad trūksta šaltinių, taigi sumenkėja ir tyrinėjimų lygis, ypač jei lyginsime su kaimynine lietuviška Vilniaus diecezija. Tą patvirtina ir toks faktas, kad ligi šiolei nėra žinoma, kiek yra buvę Žemaičių vyskupų. [p. 35].

ENThe present abstract provides the analysis of the catalogue of Samogitian bishops, dating back to 1417—1609, which the author examined as a separate problem. The following questions were of special interest: the chronology of governing of the diocese, national and social origin of bishops, their education, age and career; bishops as political personalities. Up to now, no data concerning the general number of bishops in Samogitia exist. This problem is not so simple, since it concerns even four bishops in the period of two centuries (15th-16th centuries), namely: Petras from Lvov, Martynas from Luokė, Bartolomėjus from Pultuskas and Jurgis Taiata. In general, we find some 19 bishops of Samogitia on the list, embracing the 15th-16th centuries.
