Miestelio istorija

LTPavandenės miestelis, matyt, išaugo aplink Pavandenės bažnyčią, funduotą 1619 m. Miestelis visą laiką, iki pat XX a. pradžios, priklausė Pavandenės dvarą valdžiusiems dvarininkams. Vardą jisai gavo nuo Pavandenės kaimo. Pavandenės kaimas to paties pavadinimo valsčiuje minimas jau 1566 m. Žygimanto Augusto rašte, kur nurodomos jo ribos su Sūkainių kaimu. Minimas jis ir 1568 m. Žygimanto Augusto rašte Ivanui Tuchanovskiui, kuriam paskiriama 20 valakų žemės Pavandenės kaime su jame gyvenančiais žmonėmis [MAB RS. F. 37. Ap. 104. L. 3]. Pavandenės kaimas minimas ir 1602 m. balandžio 29 d. dalybų tarp Burbų ir Bohušo Akmianskio akte, kuriame rašoma, kad Pavandenės dvaro valdos tęsiasi nuo Bludo ežero iki Pavandenės kaimo [MAB RS. F. 37. Ap. 7011. L. 13]. Pavandenės miestelį pirmą kartą paminėtą dokumentuose randame 1758 m. balandžio 23 d. Siame dokumente (inventoriuje) surašyti Pavandenės miestelio, Burbiškiu, Kruopainių, Zdoniškių kaimu gyventojai su prievolėmis ir mokesčiais [MAB RS. F. 43 (VKF). L. 15, 388]. 1775 m. balandžio 27 d. stalininko A. Gedgaudo įvesdinimo rašte į Pavandenės valdas minimas „visas Pavandenės miestelis, ir karčema tame miestelyje esanti, ir ten gyvenantys gyventojai ir valdiniai“ [MAB RS. F. 59. Ap. 8332. L. 260]. ENA small town of Pavandenė that grew up round the church at the beginning of the 17th century all the time until the beginning of the 20th century belonged to the manor of Pavandenė. Pavandenė as a town was mentioned in written sources in 1758. In documents from 1775 we find information on a small town of Pavandenė its pot-house and town-dwellers. In 1846, Pavandenė town had 43 personal plots, in 1859 there were 15 houses and 113 townspeople. The parish elementary school was founded in 1619 and a secondary school in 1956. In 1928 in the centre of the town the citizens of Pavandenė erected a monument to soldiers who perished in the battles for the independence of Lithuania. During the Stalin regime the monument was damaged and was restored in 1988.
