ENVydūnas paid a lot of attention to the phenomenon of love between the genders, erotic culture, and harmony in the family; to physical and spiritual health in children. The philosopher criticized the discriminatory approach, which dominated at the beginning of 20th century, towards women and also the Biblical myths, which negatively affected the culture of genders and harmony in the society. Vydūnas identified the three motives for marriage while seeking to create a harmonious and healthy family: its true love and aspiration of the couple to develop in spiritual way, and also give birth to children and raise them in a healthy way. He stressed that inner harmony and health in children is completely determined by the way parents live, and by their relationship, and by their love. A mother has the most intimate connection with a child, so her thoughts, her feelings, her desires and her way of life has a determining influence towards formation of a child’s personality. According to Vydūnas the personal example of parents, harmonious living and their approach towards children as equal beings to adults and helping them to develop their innate spiritual powers (humanness) and aspiration to become their true self are the most important in children education.
