ENAge of a person is not the fatal factor in a character's psychological maturity and wisdom, the other factors, such as humanness, enlightened consciousness, morals and meaningful way of living count as much more important. Elderly characters often are depicted as immature psychologically, and youth (even children) by listening to their heart's voice are able to act wisely. Young characters dominate in Vydūnas fictional works and they are depicted not as passive members of society, but as active and independent personalities, searching for their own way. They often go against the rules and understandings dictated by society and try to find answers to the questions by thinking independently. There's also an exceptional group of elderly characters that symbolizes archetypical wisdom and aliveness of humanity. The most important quality marking the psychological maturity of a character is becoming a self-person (becoming an authentically, individual) and later a person in service for others, for the nation, for humanity. This personality is walking the path into greater realization of one's essence and reaches higher and higher degree of personal maturity, such as higher consciousness, humanness, etc.
