Europos Sąjungos prisijungimas prie Europos žmogaus teisių konvencijos: nuoseklesnė žmogaus teisių apsauga Europoje?

ENThis paper raises the issues concerning the questions of the European Unions accession to the European Convention on Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms. However, it does not analyse the process of accession as such nor it goes into details of provisions of the draft Agreement on the Accession of the European Union to the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms agreed on 5 April 2013. This paper rather focuses on the questions of consistency of human rights protection in Europe. In particular, it gives arguments supporting the position that there is pressing need of the accession since consistency is not ensured on the European platform as well as arguments supporting the opposite view. The aim of this paper is to provide fruits for thoughts and foster discussions on the current situation of human rights protection system throughout Europe; definite conclusions are beyond the scope, though.
