Henryk Sienkiewicz wśród Polaków na Litwie: z dziejów recepcji

ENThe article attempts to characterize the broader reception of the figure of Henryk Sienkiewicz and of his literary output at the light of a number of examples of his reception among the Poles of Lithuania between the late 19th century and the early 21st century. Through a survey of press articles, notices, literary critical statements, translations, prose and stage adaptations etc., as well as through an assessment of the reception of screen adaptations and other testimonies to the lasting popularity of the author of the Trilogy, the characteristic features of the local reception of Sienkiewicz's literary output are shown against the background of a changing historical and political reality over a span of more than a century.
