Summary / Abstract:
ENVerbs matyti and regėti and their derivatives can be used in the same meaning in different dialects. But already in the first writings (especially in religiou ones) their meanings differ. This tradition is carried on in the old and contemporary works of fiction. So allegations that these verbs are only for mal equivalent substitutes, used in order not to repeat the verb are groundless. This means they both are in the language, not trying to push the other of use. [From the publication]
