Summary / Abstract:

Neįgalių vaikų atsakymai skyrėsi nuo sveikų vaikų, be to, jie priklausė nuo negalės pobūdžio. ENThe aim of the work is to find out the attitude to health of those children who have visual, hearing and intellectual disabilities and how they take care of it. Investigations were based on the questionnaire that was filled out in February of 1999, The questionnaire was made using unified questions HBSC. There participated children from V-IX forms of special schools (37 with visual impairements, 76 with hearing impairements and 34 with intellectual disabilities) as well as 193 students from mainstream schools. According to the investigation evaluation of health depended on child’s disability: children having hearing and intellectual disabilities more often thought of themselves as having health problems. Children with psychosomatic problems most often felt as the healthy ones though during 12 months they experienced injuries twice as much. Children’s desire to be mobile differed from their pfysical activity: more than half of the intellectually disabled children didn’t do morning exercises, one third didn’t go in for sports after school. Only every 5-6 of visually impaired or having hearing impairements children did morning exercises every day, half of them devoted from 0,5 h to 1 h to sports. More children with intellectual disabilities tried to smoke. What concerns alcohol there were more visually impaired children who had tasted it. Disabled children are more inclined to bad habits than the healthy ones. What concerns health problems visually impaired children most often discuss it with medical workers, children with hearing impairements speak about it with parents and intellectually disabled children discuss it with teachers and medical workers.
