Summary / Abstract:

ENThe article presents the activity in the ICT sector according to business classifier and ICT indicators in Lithuania. This made it possible to determine the high competitiveness of this sector in the economy of Lithuania. Comparative analysis of employment in the ICT and the share of this sector in the economy showed the growing importance of the sector in the country. The study identified the expected number of new young specialists needed for the ICT sector in the coming years, which allows planning the number of students on courses of ICT studies. The introduction of a new financial instrument - 'a student voucher1 - during the reform of higher education in Lithuania provides the control of the candidates flow to the faculties necessary for the country's economy, among others, to the faculties belonging to the ICT group.
